Danno Francis Mahoney, 79, of Deerwood, passed away August 8, 2017 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, MN. Danno was born in Buffalo, MN on September 9, 1937 to Francis and Mary (Elliott) Mahoney of Monticello, MN.  He graduated from Monticello High School and was a proud graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1960. He married Barbara Hunter on April 12, 1959, in Monticello. Danno served as an officer in the United States Navy stationed in Long Beach and Monterey, CA, with active duty aboard a destroyer, the USS Trathen.  He held management positions at Proctor & Gamble and 3M before settling his family in Deerwood, MN in 1969 as General Manager of Crosby Manufacturing in Crosby, MN.  In 1984 Danno became owner and CEO of Crosby Manufacturing until his retirement in 1993.

Danno was an active member of the community for 48 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Deerwood and served as a Trustee and Councilmember; was a member of the Knights of Columbus; served on the District Board of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center; served as a Deerwood Bank Board Member; served on the Cuyuna Country Club as a Board Member and President; retired from the Deerwood Fire Department, serving 20 years with 5 years as Chief; served as President and member of the Society of Plastics Industries; was a member of the Deerwood Legion, Walter Scott Erickson Post #557; and was a member of the Tin Can Sailors of The National Association of Destroyer Veterans.

Danno and Barbara enjoyed their winters with friends and family at their home in Surprise, AZ.

Danno is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Erin Mahoney (Steve Skarloken) of Deerwood, Jeanne (Kevin) Hanzlik of Northfield, Colleen Mahoney of Phoenix, AZ, Lynne (Jack) Kosmach of Duluth, and Megan Mahoney (Nancy Read) of Telluride, CO; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother James (Berteil) Mahoney of Laguna Niguel, CA, sisters Kathleen (Robert) Carlson of Duluth and Lorna (Michael) Shea of Sacramento, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.  Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post #557 of Deerwood.  Visitation will be on Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Deerwood from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with a rosary at 7 pm.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
