James Perry Thorson

James P. “J.T.” Thorson age 66 of Deerwood died on March 22, 2018 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  He was born on October 6, 1951 in Edgerton, WI to Theodore and Margaret (Anderson) Thorson.  He was a graduate of the Bemidji High School, class of 1969.  Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a Aviation Hydraulics Technician from 1970 to 1974.  He was a member of the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post #557, Deerwood.  He was a longtime employee of Oberg Fence in Deerwood and was a former Industrial Arts teacher.

Jim is survived by his parents, Ted and Margaret Thorson of Bemidji; four brothers, Robert (Kristine) Thorson of Storrs, CT, Leif (Kathy) Thorson of St. Anthony, Erik Thorson of Bemidji and Thor (Kimm) Thorson of Brainerd; one sister, Ingrid (Peter) Koller of N. St. Paul; and special friend, Rose Beneke.

Jim is preceded in death by one brother, Ted Thorson Jr.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.  Burial will be at the Deerwood Scandia Cemetery with full military honors given by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday.
