Chester G. “Chet” Martin age 90 formerly of Crosby died on December 19, 2018 at Waverly Gardens Senior Living in North Oaks. He was born on December 24, 1927 in Ironton to George and Mary (Lunchar) Martin. Chet married Phyllis Hardy on March 20, 1954 in Minneapolis. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Chet was a retired accountant with Pickands-Mather Mining Company and Hallett Construction Company. He was a life-long member of St. George’s Serbian Orthodox Church in Duluth. He was also a member of the Serbian Sisters and the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443 of Ironton. Chet enjoyed biking, gardening, traveling, camping and family time.
Chet is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Jay (Jean) Martin of Shoreview and Thomas (Jeanne Ullevig) Martin of Ham Lake; three daughters, Mary Ann (Joseph) Porwoll of Colgate, WI, Carol (Pete) Midthun of Shoreview and Jane (Joseph) Pribyl of Shoreview; one sister, Ann Murphy of Crosby; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Preceding Chet in death are his parents, Mary Martin, George Martin and Violet Martin; five brothers, Robert and Mike Martin, Robert, Denny, and Clifford Polich; and two sisters, Dorothy Mathews and Rose Satovich.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
