Diane Marie Mayer

Diane Marie Mayer age 63 of Ironton died on August 20, 2018 at her home.  She was born on November 19, 1954 in Hancock, MI to Louis and Veronica (Nelson) Schemmel.  Diane married Philip Mayer on May 24, 1975 in St. Paul.  Diane was a Dental Assistant with her husband, Dr. Philip Mayer DDS in Crosby.  She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.

Diane is survived by her husband Philip; two sons, Colin (Anna) Mayer of Crosby and Justin Mayer of Dickinson, ND; one daughter, Theresa (John) Backowski of Breckenridge; her mother Veronica “Tutie” Schemmel of Rockford, MI; three brothers, Jay (Patti) Schemmel of Grand Rapids, MI, David (Jayne) Schemmel of Rockford, MI and Tom (Kim) Schemmel of Clarkston, MI; one sister, Barbara (John) Heth of Rockford, MI; and nine grandchildren.

Preceding Diane in death are her father, two sons, Ryan and Stephen Mayer and one sister, Mary Alice Schemmel.

 A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.  Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.  Visitation will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
