Donald A. Christensen age 89 of Deerwood died on June 18, 2017 at Essentia Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, when he went to be with his Heavenly Father on Father’s Day.  He was born on July 11, 1927 in Brainerd to Abel and Clara (Scherfenberg) Christensen.  Don married Ione Knowlen on August 5, 1950 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood.  Don was a WWII Navy veteran.  He was a former supervisor at Northwest Paper in Brainerd.  He retired from Instant Web in Chanhassen.  Don was a past member at the Community Alliance Church in Garrison.  Don had many occupations in life and worked hard at them all, but his greatest occupation was to be a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  His love for the Lord and people will not be forgotten, and he will be greatly missed.

Don is survived by his wife Ione; four daughters, Debrah (Dan) Bowen of Vancouver, Mardy Christensen of Barnesville, GA, Kristin Christensen and Karin Christensen both of Deerwood; two grandchildren, Trevor (Krystle) Bowen and Jami Shelton all of Medford, OR; five great grandchildren, Miles and Zoi Shelton, Jack, Christian and Camden Bowen all of Medford, OR; one brother, Jim (Norma) Christensen of Melstone, MT; half-brother, Richard and half-sister, Elizabeth; sisters-in-law, Violet South of Bloomington and Lucille Knowlen of Brainerd and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Don in death are his parents; step-mother, Sarah; a brother, Joseph “Ted” Christensen and half-brothers, Bob Norton and King Norton.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.  Burial will be at the Bay Lake Cemetery with full military honors given by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post #557, Deerwood.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Sunday.
