James Howard Harker age 87 of Crosby died on July 7, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 18, 1931 in Grand Rapids to James A. and Leona (Qualley) Harker. Jim married his high school sweetheart Shirley Elizabeth Flynn. He was an alumni of Pine River High School, Bemidji State University and St. Cloud State University. Jim taught, coached and served as athletic director and principal for 33 years, serving the school districts of Nevis, Pequot Lakes, Crosby-Ironton and Aitkin.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley; one son, Lynn (Rochelle) Harker of Crosby; one daughter, Debra (Dennis) Perreault of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Jamison (Shannon) Harker, Brian (Samantha) Harker, Ryan (Mollie) Burke, Jacquelyn (Brian) Senske, Jennifer (Noah) Wahl, Michelle (Clint) Lundeen, Renee (David) Caneday; and eighteen great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Inurnment will be at the Salem Lutheran Columbarium. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
