Jerrold "Jerry" Donald Bowman

July 14, 1953 ~ December 28, 2018 (age 65)

Jerrold “Jerry” Donald Bowman, 65, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2019.

Born on July 14, 1953, Jerry was the second of three children born to Donald “Don” and LaVonne (Day) Bowman.  He grew up in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1971.

A spirited entrepreneur and human calculator, Jerry started Magnum Machining in Rochester, MN in 1994. The business flourished and later opened a second plant in Deerwood, MN. Magnum moved operations to Deerwood and Torreon, Mexico, where they reside today.  He proudly served as the CEO for over 24 years.

Jerry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially near water.  This included countless fishing trips to Old Post Lodge on Lake St. Joseph in Ontario, Canada.  He enjoyed winters in Treasure Island, Florida, and summers at his lake home in Deerwood, MN.

Jerry had a deep love for his family and friends.  Many knew him for his tasty cooking, storytelling ability, quick wit, love of fishing, loyal friendship, and heart of gold. His family takes comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his parents, who he missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Serena Bowman of Deerwood, four children, Ben (Katherine) Bowman of Saint Paul, Tyler (Ashley) Bowman of Fridley, Jenna (Allison) Bowman of Rochester, and Michael (Brittany) Bowman of Deerwood, and their mother, Mavis Bowman of Rochester, four grandchildren, Grant, Evelyn, Hugh, Iris, and brothers Bill (Mary) of Rochester, and Joe (Cindy) of Rochester.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Don and LaVonne.

Honoring his generous wish, the gift of life was shared with many people in need through organ and tissue donation, which will restore life’s promise for many families.
