John Thomas Leonhardt age 87 of Crosby died on October 26, 2017 at the Hallett Cottages in Crosby. He was born on May 18, 1930 in Jessenland Township to Thomas and Margaret (Oldenburg) Leonhardt. He married Regina Strobel on August 28, 1954 in Jessenland Township, MN. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran. He attended country school in Jessenland Township. He was a farmer in Jessenland Township. John was well rounded handyman. He was a welder for Ohnsorg Truck Body Mfg in Bell Plaine. He was a retired owner of Serpent South Shore Resort and John Excavating Company. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby and was a former member of CREDI.
John is survived by two sons, Chuck (Debbie) Leonhardt and Bob (Karla) Leonhardt all of Deerwood; two daughters, Sharon (Mark) Wagner of Glencoe and Shirley (Neil) Ogborn of Ironton; Two brothers, Bill Leonhardt of Deerwood and Terry (Flor) Leonhardt of Bell Plaine; one sister, Betty (Don) Strobel of Henderson; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Preceding John in death are his parents; His wife Regina; one daughter, Marion; three brothers, Joseph, George, and Larry Leonhardt.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Monday, October 30, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
