William J. “Bill” Cory age 89 of Crosby died on April 17, 2019 at the Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. He was born on June 27, 1929 in Leavenworth, Kansas and adopted by William and Bertha (Peterson) Cory. Bill married Lettie Klink in Crosby on June 26, 1951. He was employed with the Land-o-Lakes as a turkey breeder and service manager for 32 years. He served as an insurance agent and adjuster for Farmers Township Mutual Insurance. Bill was a life member of the Mystic Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and Shriners Club, the Oriental Band of Brainerd, and the York Rite. He was an active member of the Emily Methodist Church and the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood. For twenty-five years he had a passion for being a fine wood craftsman. Bill worked with stained glass and was an avid outdoorsman.
Bill is survived by two sons, William “Tygre” Cory of Crosby and Daniel H. (Joanne) Cory of Baxter; one daughter, Tonna (Joel) Parsons of Webb, IA; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Preceding Bill in death are parents and his wife of 65 years, Lettie.
A Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood with full military honors by the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton. A private family burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
