Alice I. (DeChaine) Lindroth age 91 of Crosby died on November 30, 2012 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. She was born on February 25, 1921 in Cuyuna to Andrew and Florence (Rasset) Olson. Alice was a Crosby-Ironton High alumni, class of 1938. She then graduated from St. Cloud State Teachers College in 1951 with a degree in elementary education. Alice taught for 35 years in Crow Wing County, Deerwood, Riverton and Crosby. Alice married Ernest DeChaine in Brainerd on June 30, 1942. They bought a house in Cuyuna in 1948 and were there until she retired in 1983. Alice was awarded a second chance in life when she met Robert Lindroth of Deerwood in 1989. They spent their years together traveling, dancing and spending winters in Texas. They were married in Deerwood December 3, 2006. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crosby; Crosby-Ironton Senior Citizens and the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Auxiliary, 557 of Deerwood. Survivors include her husband Robert Lindroth; sons, Barry (Diane) DeChaine of Anaconda, MT, Darren (Kelly) DeChaine of Waverly, MN; daughter, Darice (Paul) Simon of Royalton; sister-in-law, Donna Olson; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; sister, June Emerton; step father, Joseph Olson; brother, Lloyd Olson; nephews, Nathan Emerton and David Olson; and sister-in-law Meryl Olson. Funeral services will be 11 am on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 7 pm at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby and 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.
