Arlene Elizabeth Morrisette

Arlene Elizabeth Morrisette, age 94 of Remer, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025 at her home. She was born on August 7, 1931 in Wayzata to Peter and Dorothea (Stribel) Raskob.

On May 14, 1952, Arlene was united in marriage to Roger Morrisette at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Wayzata. They resided in New Brighton for 10 years. In 1961 they moved to Dayton, where they joined St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Arlene was employed at the PAKO Corp. for 7 years; she worked the Root Beer Stand at the Minnesota State Fair; and was a Rural Mail Carrier in Dayton for 16 years. Arlene had horses all of her life, enjoying a variety of riding styles. She enjoyed spending her weekend trail riding, horseback riding through the Continental Divide, and covered wagon trail rides through Montana She boarded and bred thoroughbreds and had the first thoroughbred stud “Bearir” in Minnesota. She was the secretary for the MN Thoroughbred Association for 5 years and help establish horse racing in the State of Minnesota. Arlene sold her farm to her son, JP and retired from horse breeding/raising business, moving to Remer in 1995 and started raising goats and chickens; loving her German Wirehaired Pointer Dogs, Ida, Izzy and Richard.

Arlene also enjoyed hunting, playing card, gardening, sewing and quilting. Many hours were spent making hundreds of quilts for gifts and income. She always had positives to say and her favorite quote was “never let the bastards get you down.” Arlene was an active lady all of her life. She was still caring for her chickens and doing chores until she got sick in June of this year.

Many lives were touched by sharing her horses, goats and chickens. She always put other first and never wavered when it was getting tough. She lived like God truly blessed her.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Roger; three sons, Callen (Rene) Morrisette of Remer, Gary (Mona) Morrisette of Elk River and Joel “JP” Morrisette of Remer; two daughters, Lisa (Jerry) Orre of Fertile and Jody (Steven) Jones of Corydon, IN; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Preceding Arlene in death are her parents; one daughter, Celia Gjertsen; one grandchild and seven siblings.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025 at St. Emily’s Catholic

Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery in Dayton on Saturday, November 15th at 1:00 p.m.
