 
            Axel Leonard Olson Jr. age 82 of Hutchinson formerly of Deerwood and Garrison died at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud on November 25, 2013. He was born in Nokay Lake Township to Axel and Emma (Marsh) Sr. on February 1, 1931. He was a US Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient serving in Korea.
Axel married Iola Fay Nichols on January 11, 1953 in Deerwood. He owned and operated Olson's Garage in Deerwood for 30 years. He was as a volunteer fireman with the Deerwood Fire Departments. In the Mid 70's he taught 1 year of automotive at the Vo-tech in Hutchinson. He also was employed with 3M in Hutchinson for 6 years. He started Olson's Locksmith in Hutchinson, which he ran for 20 years. He retired to the Garrison area in 1996 where he continued to operate Olson's Lock and Sharpening on a part time basis. He was a lifetime member of the Garrison VFW and the Hutchinson American Legion Post. He was a member of the Community Alliance Church in Garrison.
Survivors include his wife, Iola; 5 sons, Steve (Sharon) Olson of Chanhassen, Brad (Susan) Olson of Glencoe, Mark (Kathy) Olson of Delano, Kevin (Jodi) Olson of Hutchinson and Scott (Luci) Olson of Georgetown, TX; 4 brothers, Jim (Mary) Olson of Prather, CA, Paul (Darlene) Olson of Deerwood, Fred Olson of Oak Grove and Don (Karen) Olson of The Villages, FL; 3 sisters, Margaret "Margo" (Bill) Barr of Santa Fe, NM Florence "Flo" (Dennis) Mott of Fairview, Or and Ida (Dennis) Robinson of Randall; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, 1 brother, Hank Olson and 1 sister, Leona Bryant.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, December 6th at Community Alliance Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the MN State Veteran's Cemetery in Little Falls at 2 pm on Friday. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior the services at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
