Carolyn Ann Sargent age 78 of Crosslake died on February 7, 2017 at the Augustana Care Health and Rehabilitation Center in Apple Valley.  She was born on June 17, 1938 in Minneapolis to Carl and Marie (Mangen) Petersen.  Carolyn was a retired Bloomington School District Music Teacher; was a former organist at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Bloomington; and a retired liturgist, organist and choir director at the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake.

Carolyn is survived by one son, Richard Ness of Victoria; one daughter, Julia (Bob) Lyng of Burnsville; six brothers, Raymond (Arlene) Petersen of Brooklyn Park, Thomas (Judy) Petersen of Delano, Fr. Vincent Petersen of Carey, OH, Stephan (Laura) Petersen of Elk River, Jeffrey (Pamela) Petersen of Buffalo and Kevin (Theresa) Petersen of Brooklyn Center; two sisters, Mary (Larry) Sherbrooke of Otsego and Cecilia Schulte of Navarre; four grandchildren, Jane Koch, Kelly Koch, Connor Ness and Veronica Ness.

Preceding Carolyn in death are her parents; and two brothers, Laurence and Gregory Petersen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake.  Burial will be at the Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake.  Visitation will be on Monday, 9:00 am until the time of the services at the church.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
