Charles Francis Kraemer age 87 of Deerwood departed this life on June 17, 2011 at his home. He was born June 3, 1924 in Madison, Minnesota to Christopher and Angeline (Bronder) Kraemer. Chuck was baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Madison. He graduated from Madison High School in 1943. He was U.S. army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in October of 1951. Chuck moved to Crosby in 1952 to manage the Super Valu, which he did until he retired in 1986. He retired from the Crosby Fire Department in 1965. He was a former member of the Cuyuna Range Lions Club. He was actively involved in local charitable organizations and fund raising and an active supporter of the Crosby/Ironton community, including Hallett Center Foundation, co-chair of Land of Lakes Girl Scout Council fundraising (26 years), and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He enjoyed assisting in church decorating and upgrading, including hand painting the stations of the cross sculptures. He was widely known for his love of painting, ceramics and antiques. He was a merchant in the Hallett Antique Emporium. Survivors include; sisters-in-law; Bea Kraemer of Winona and Isabel Kraemer of Monticello; Nieces and nephews, Betty and Jerry Knuesel of Winona, Tom and Lana Kraemer of Stillwater, Mary Vanderwert of St. Paul, Deb and Mike Griffith of Madison, WI, Pam and Doug Wicks of Anchorage, Alaska, Peter and Susann Kraemer of Maplewood, Wayne and Sharon Larson of Willmar, Michael and Candice Kraemer of Stillwater, Pat and Nyla Kraemer of Long Prairie, Kathy and Gary Larson of Willmar, Mark and Wanda Kraemer of Monticello, and Dan and Lori Kraemer of Monticello. Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers; Sandy, Robert, Joseph, and John Kraemer; sisters, Marie Larson and Alyce Kraemer. Funeral services will be 11 am on Friday, June 24th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443 of Ironton. Friends may call on Friday from 9 am until the time of services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity are welcome.
