Charles Hugh McLaughlin age 74 of Crosby died on March 2, 2012 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. He was born on June 11, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to Charles and Sarah (Doherty) McLaughlin. He was a retired US Navy veteran serving from 1955 to 1974. Retired Crosby Fireman with 36 years of service, and a retired quality controller with Crow Wing County and the State of Minnesota Social Services. He was a member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton and the Brainerd VFW post # 1647 and a former Crosby City Council member. He is survived by 2 sons, Charles McLaughlin Jr. of Knox, PA and Robert (Marianne) McLaughlin of Cuyuna; 1 daughter, Lauri (Len) Bennett of Duluth; ex wife and friend Laurene McLaughlin of Crosby; 2 brothers, Peter (Betty) McLaughlin of Long Island, NY and James (Jackie) McLaughlin of Bushhill, PA; Six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 11 am on Friday, March 8, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call on Thursday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 8 pm.
