Clarence "Andy" Anderson

Clarence "Andy" Anderson, 88, of Fifty Lakes, passed away peacefully at his home on August 21, 2025.

Andy was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on March 7, 1937 to Clarence and Gertrude Anderson. He grew up in Caledonia, Minnesota. After completing 8th grade, he left home for South Dakota and worked on a ranch until 1955 when he voluntarily joined the U.S. Army. He spent two years stationed in Germany, where he worked as a Master Driver in the 606 Ordnance Company Ammunition. Upon returning from the military he began a long career as an over-the-road truck driver. In 1968, he moved his family to Winsted, Minnesota, where worked as a driver for Sterner Industries and as manager of Sterner Garage during his nearly 20 years of service. Andy also served as the commander of the Lake Mary VFW Post 9232.

In 1981, he opened the Bullwacker Bar. After closing the bar, he moved to Emily, Minnesota, and began a new career as a heavy equipment operator. As a member of Operating Engineers Local 49, he ran a D8 bulldozer, building roads across the state. After retiring from the 49ers, he and Sindey started Emily Sand & Gravel, which they owned and operated until his final retirement in 2015. He will be remembered for his work hard, play hard mentality.

Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He loved having a "canuper" at the local watering hole and was known for always having a good story and joke to tell.

Andy is survived by his wife Sindey; one son, Dirk (Katherine) Anderson of Winsted; five daughters, Elizabeth (Steve) Fenner of Saginaw, MI, Pamela (David) Hoese of Silver Lake, Angela (Todd) Schultz of Shawnee, KS, JoRae (John) Stockdale of LeRoy and Amber (Nick Perpich) Anderson of Cuyuna; two sisters, Marlys Jennings of Caledonia and Sandra (Keith) Comstock of Caledonia; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Preceding Andy in death are his parents; three sisters and six brothers.

A celebration of life will be held at Pickled Loon Saloon (44025 Hwy 6, Emily, MN) on Saturday,  September 6th from 1-3 p.m.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
