 
            Dale William Modine age 87 of Aitkin died on February 19, 2012 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born on May 18, 1924 in Burlington, CO to Julius and Mildred (Weigand) Modine. He married Iva Vellek on January 24, 1947 in Colome, SD. Dale was a WWII Marine Corp Veteran. He was an employee with the Burnsville Parks and Recreation for 20 years. He was also employed by the Public Utilities in Austin for 20 years. After retiring in 1991, Dale and Iva moved to Deerwood. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iron Hub, a life member of the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post #557, Deerwood and was a past commander; Aitkin VFW, Marine Corp League Heartland Detachment and past commander; member of the SAL, Deerwood and retired member of the 49ers. Survivors include 1 son, William Modine of Chokio; 2 daughters, Sandra (Jim) Mishler of Eagen and Janet Sanderson of Monticello; 3 brothers, Robert "Pete" (Phyllis) Modine of Ureka, CA, LeRoy (Ina) Modine of Ureka, CA and Vern (Theresa) Modine of Lusk, WY; 2 sisters, Donna Mae (Ken) Drey of Gregory, SD and Shirley (Tom) Harder of New Castle, WY; sister-n-law, Phyllis Modine of Heron, SD; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Iva and 1 brother, Harold Modine. Funeral services will be 1 pm on Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Iron Hub. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with full military rites by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post, Deerwood. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
