David Anthony Landree, age 77 of Ironton, passed away on December 27, 2025 at the Heartwood Care Center in Crosby. He was born in Crosby on June 13, 1948 to Hubert and Mary Ada (Bastien) Landree. He was a Crosby-Ironton High School graduate. After high school David served four years in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. David was united in marriage to Doris Jean Westbrook in Philipsburg, Kansas in 1972. He attended and graduated from the Brainerd Community College and St. Cloud State University with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. David taught in the elementary school in the Crosby-Ironton School District for 32 years, retiring in 2006.
David also retired from the Minnesota National Guards as a chief warrant officer with 20 years of service; was a volunteer youth firearms safety training instructor for 40 years; a color guard member, officer and past commander of the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443 of Ironton; served as past member and president of the Hallett Library Board; was an active member of the Whitetails Chapter of the MN Deer Hunters Association; and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby and Deerwood.
David is survived by his wife Doris; his son, Jay; granddaughters, Ahreanna (Brandon) Anderson and Katelyn Landree; six sisters, Rose (Phil) Hinrichs, Mary (David) King, Ruth (Mike) Zauhar, Jane (Terry) Dunsworth, Lucy (Dan) Lueck, Lois (Steve) Zauhar and one brother, Mark (Eldora) Landree.
Preceding David in death are his parents, Hub and Mary Ada Landree and his son, Chad.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors presented by the Myrin-James American Legion Post.
