Dean A. Bordwell age 75 of Deerwood passed away on October 30, 2011 at the VA Hospital in St. Cloud. Dean was born to Lloyd and Marion (Peterson) Bordwell on September 19, 1936 on the farm in Deerwood. Dean worked for years as co-owner of a fuel oil business in Ironton. He then moved to the cities and worked as a recruiter for the Minnesota National Guard where he obtained a rank of Sergeant Major. He was inducted into the Minnesota National Guard Court of Honor at Fort Ripley in 2004. Upon retirement he moved Back to Deerwood and worked for Deerwood Township. In his spare time he loved to hunt and cut wood. Any fallen tree became part of his wood pile. He will be missed by friends and family. Dean is survived by son, Jeff (Joella) Bordwell of Monticello; daughters, Jane (Terry) Brink of Baxter, Julie (Dave) Maus of Bemidji; step daughter, Jeannie Hanson of Deerwood; brothers, Gene (Helen) Bordwell of Crosby, Lloyd (Marcy) Bordwell of Deerwood; Sister-in-law, Gloria Bordwell of Deerwood; seven grandchildren, one step grandchild and one step great grandchild. Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Evonne, and 1 brother, Elmer. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd at 7 pm at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 pm until the time of services. Burial will be at the MN State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 11 am with full military honors.
