Donald Frederick Boettcher

October 12, 1920 — June 28, 2011

Donald "Don" Frederick Boettcher was born on October 12, 1920 in Lewiston, Minnesota the son of Frederick and Clara (McDougal) Boettcher. Don's first years were spent on farms in the Lewiston area. In 1932 his family moved to Monterey (Trimont), Minnesota where he graduated from high school.

Don married his high school sweetheart, Donna Mae Hartke, on June 18, 1942 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where Donna was attending Nettleton College. Don entered the army in the fall of 1942. He served as a section cheif in "B", battery, artillery unit 76, infantry division in the European theater of WWII. Don was honorably discharged on December 8, 1945 and returned to Monterey (Trimont). He worked for John Deere implement until he and his family moved to Winnebago, Minnesota in 1955.

Don operated a feed store business in Winnebago from 1955 to 1961. He worked for P.C.A. for the next six years and then moved to Brandon, South Dakota in 1967 where he worked for GTA feed until retirement. Don and his wife Donna lived in Brandon until March of 2009 when they moved to Crosby, Minnesota.

Thoughout his lifetime Don was active in his church communities, served as a volunteer fireman, and enjoyed dancing, playing cards and golf.

Don is survived by his wife, Donna, Crosby, MN; daughter, Kay and husband Jim, Remer, MN; Son, Gil and wife Mary (Mamach), Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Monte Johnson and wife Jennifer, Victoria, MN; Kari Roberts and husband Bill, St. Paul, MN; Ryan and Wife Alonna, Newfolden, MN,Matthew Boettcher of Rochester,MN; and great grandchildren, Braden and Tanner Johnson, Gavin, Isaac and Brooke Roberts, Micah and Owen Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his four sisters, Vera, Martha, Jean, Loris; brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 3:30 pm on Saturday at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby.
