Donald Henry Hartung

Donald Henry Hartung, age 95 of Crosby passed away on May 11, 2025 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was born on October 20, 1929 in Crosby to Richard and Anna (Moritz) Hartung.  Don was united in marriage to Mary Moore on December 11, 1948 in Crosby.

Don mined on the Cuyuna Range for 24 years with Zontelli Brothers and Pittsburgh Pacific.  He retired for the City of Crosby Water Department with 22 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.

Don is survived by his daughters, Janice Hartung of Phoenix, AZ, Donna Hartung of Ironton and Gayle Hartung of Plant City, FL; Six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Preceding Don in death are his parents; his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mary Jo Shire; two brothers, Adam and Floyd Hartung; and four sisters, Lelia Hartung OSB, Vera Hartung, Leona Hartung and an infant.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
