Douglas Robert Ray age 73 of Bay Lake died on August 9, 2013 at Golden Horizons Assisted and Memory Care in Aitkin. He was born on May 6, 1940 in Minneapolis to Robert and Celinda (Olander) Ray. He married Elsa Linberg on May 4, 1963 in Deerwood. He graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1959. He was U.S. navy veteran, serving from 1960 to 1966. Doug retired in 2005 from GRT inc. in Eagan, serving the company for 32 years as a truck driver. He was a member of Salem Lutheran in Deerwood, the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post #557, Deerwood, Compass Masonic Lodge in Robbinsdale, the USS St. Paul Association, and was an assistant Boy Scout Master, Troop 537 in Crystal. Survivors include his wife Elsa; 1 son, Lance (Julie) Ray of Pequot Lakes; 1 daughter, Shelly(Doug) Brown of Hudson, WI; six grandchildren, Hanna Ray, Emma Ray, Jessica Oakes, Jennie Oakes, Sam Brown and Andrew Brown. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 11 am on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Deerwood Scandia Cemetery with full military honors by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion. Friends may call on Tuesday 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
