Douglas Joseph Rhode

Douglas Joseph Rhode age 77 of Emily died on December 7, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  He was born on September 25, 1939 in Winsted, MN to Fritz and Frances (Steiner) Rhode.  Doug married Bea Loew on February 4, 1961 in Winsted.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.  He was a member of St. Emily’s Catholic Church in Emily, the Pine River Watershed Alliance, Emily Lakes and Rivers Association, and the Outing Senior Club.

Doug is survived by his wife Bea; his daughter, Sharon Brower of Brainerd; mother-in-law, Zoa Fasching of Winsted; one brother, Fred (Shirley) Rhode of Elk River; sister-in-law, Peggy (Tony) Lachermeier of Waverly, MN; two grandchildren, Chad and Douglas Brower of Brainerd; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Doug in death are his parents; one brother, Giles Rhode and a nephew, Jake Rhode.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Monday, January 9, 2017 at St. Emily’s Catholic Church in Emily with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443 of Ironton.  Visitation will be an hour prior at the church.  A memorial mass will also be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, MN.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be 2 pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
