E. Clarine "Kay" Herda

E. Clarine "Kay" Herda age 90 of Andover formerly of Bay Lake died on March 8, 2012 at Farmstead of Andover Senior Living Community. She was born on December 25, 1921 in Starkweather, North Dakota to Anton and Esther (Nelson) Nelson. She graduated from Starkweather High School and Valley City Teachers College. Teaching school in the Starkweather, Brocket , Grafton ND and Blaine MN school districts. She married George Herda in 1947. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and Council Representative. A former member of the Board of Governors of Unity Hospital Auxiliary and Christ Lutheran Church. Kay and George retired to the Bay Lake Area in 1976 and a was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood; the Bay Lake Area Hospital Auxiliary and the Bay Lake Area Lioness. She is survived by 3 daughters, Joy (David) Winkle of Rochester, Jill (Orville Gulbranson) Walker of St. Cloud and Shelly Welker of Coon Rapids; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband George and 3 sisters, Arla Nelson, Grace Fairchild and Norma Stone. Funeral services will be 11 am on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Bay Lake Cemetery in Bay Lake Township. Friends may call on Tuesday 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
