Edna Eva Wolford age 100 of Crosby died on March 11, 2014 at her home. She was born in Huntersville Township on April 1, 1914 to Richard and Rebecca (Wynn) Rider. Edna was the owner of Edna's Ladies Apparel in Crosby from 1960 to 1979. Edna was the first woman President of the Crosby Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iron Hub. Edna had been active in her community and especially in her church, teaching Sunday school, making quilts with the Ladies Aid, and serving her God in her daily life. She was indeed, a woman of faith and raised her daughters to be the same; not by just hearing the word, but by living it. She has experienced much history. She has gone from traveling by horse and wagon to watching people complete space walks. Her mind was still bright and she enjoyed family and friends.
Edna is survived by six daughters; Edith Beal of Aitkin, Delores (Ervin) Nickell of Rice Lake, WI, Patricia (Louie) Katzenberger of Soldotna, AK, Jacquelynn Buscher of Brainerd, Sandra Colclough of Crosby and Barbara (Rick) Knight of Santa Rosa, CA. 2 brothers, Gilbert Rider of Deerwood, Clarence Rider of Yuma, AZ; 2 sisters, Vietta Rude of Deerwood and Myrtle Bollenbacher of Crosby; and many grandchildren thru the sixth generation.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband John "Jack" Wolford in 1953; grandson, Lanny Palmer; granddaughter-in-law, Anna Palmer; four sons-in-law, Jerry Buscher, Bill Colclough, Stan Beal and Lee Palmer; five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iron Hub. Burial will be at the Scandia Cemetery in Deerwood. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby and 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
