Elizabeth U. "Betty" Vang

Elizabeth "Betty" U. Vang age 97 of Deerwood passed away at her home on September 5, 2016. She was born in Buh Township (Morrison County) on November 10, 1918 to Peter L and Theresia (Pauluson) Virnig. She was united in marriage to Olaf G. Vang on May 18, 1946 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Minneapolis.

Betty was a charter member of the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Auxiliary 557 of Deerwood, and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the CCW of Deerwood. She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Taylor, Deerwood; four sons, Oliver (Pat) Vang, Deerwood, Robert Vang, New Brighton, Roger (Cheryl) Vang, St. Cloud, and Dave (Lisa) Vang, Maplewood; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Elizabeth in death are her husband, Olaf on March 4, 1967, her parents; six brothers, Edward, Werner, Carl, Peter F., Fred, and Joseph; and one sister, Odelia Otremba; son-in-law, Bill Taylor and daughter-in-law, Meg Vang.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Friday, September 9, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Deerwood Scandia Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Deerwood from 4 to 7 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm. and on Friday 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
