Emil John Zauhar age 93 of Ironton died on June 10, 2011 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. He was born in Crosby on April 12, 1918 to Mike and Mary (Majnaric) Zauhar. He married Hazel Dell Olsen on October 20, 1945 in Edina. He has been a life long resident of the Cuyuna Range. He was a WWII Army veteran. He was a retired employee of Inland Steel with 30 years of service. Emil was a former Ironton City Council Member. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby and and a life member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton, past Commander and past Sergeant of Arms. Survivors include his wife Hazel; 1 son, Terry Zauhar of Hopkins; 2 daughters, Loretta (Dale) Rohwer of Plymouth, Susan (Bruce) Johnson of Lindstrom; and 5 grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, 6 brothers, Michael, Joseph, William, Robert, John and George Zauhar; 2 sisters, Martha Kaminsky and Annie LeMonde. Funeral services will be 1 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion. Friends may call on Monday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 7 pm and on Tuesday 1 hour prior to the services at the church.
