Gary Glen Stangel age 66 of Crosby died on January 6, 2011 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 12, 1945 in Crosby to Darrel and Norma (Wolford) Stangel. Gary was a US Army veteran serving from 1963 to 1965. Survivors include special friend of 27 years, Char Andrews; 1 daughter Kim (Greg) Kayfes of Deerwood; 2 sons, Conrad (Lisa) Stangel of Ironton and Glen Stangel of Crosby; seven grandchildren; 3 sisters, Faye (Bruce) Burke of Outing, Carol (Ken) Helmers of Missouri and JoAnne (Ken) Evenson of Pequot Lakes; 2 brothers, Richard (Maryetta) Stangel of Emily and Eugene (Janice) Stangel of Crosby; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, and 1 brother, Darrell "Kidge" Stangel. Graveside services will be 11 am on Saturday at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post 443, Ironton. Friends may call on Friday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 8 pm with a sharing of memories service at 7 pm.
