George Zauhar

George John Zauhar age 83 of Ironton died on May 9th 2011 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. He was born on March 19, 1928 in Crosby to Mike and Mary (Majnaric) Zauhar. He married Jean Elaine Kivisto on October 25, 1952 in Crosby. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War and was awarded a purple heart while in conflict. George was a former Inland Steel employee with 12 years of service and a retired custodian with the Crosby-Ironton School District. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby; the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton and the Disabled Veterans. Survivors include his wife Jean; 1 son, Tom Zauhar of Ironton; 1 daughter, Jill Brodmarkle of Baxter; son-in-law; Dale Parks of Brainerd; 1 brother, Emil (Hazel) Zauhar of Ironton; 5 grandchildren, Greg (Jolene) Parks, Chad Parks, Megan Parks, Melissa Brodmarkle, E.J. Brodmarkle; 1 great grandchild, Addison Parks. Preceding him in death are his parents; 1 daughter, Gaylene Parks; 1 son-in-law, Edwin Brodmarkle; 5 brothers, Michael, Joseph, William, Robert and John Zauhar; 2 sisters, Annie LeMonde and Martha Kaminsky. Funeral services will 11 am on Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. If desired, memorials are preferred to the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
