Gloria Mae Swanson

June 28, 1935 — September 29, 2024

Gloria Mae (Nechas) Swanson, 89, passed peacefully at Heartwood in Crosby on September 29, 2024 surrounded by family.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Merrill; parents, Leonard and Dorothy; nephew Michael, and son-in-law, Mark.

Survived by children, Jeffrey and Pamela; grandchildren, Hannah, John (Keelie), Emma and Abigail; great granddaughters, Tillie and Kayce. Also survived by twin sister and forever life partner Gayle Adelsman; niece, Heidi (Mike); nephew, Bruce (Margaret) and their families.

Gloria and her “twinnie” Gayle were born in Ortonville, MN on June 28, 1935. She was a graduate of the University of Minnesota in social work and received her Master’s degree from St. Mary’s University. She spent her career in social work and medical administration. She and Merrill met when he was a reporter for the Minneapolis Star and she worked at General Hospital. They raised their kids in Long Lake, made cherished memories taking road trips to MN resorts every summer with the Adelsman family, and were able to spend their later years at the family cabin on Pelican Lake.  She was a giver all her life, serving others and Jesus whom she loved so deeply and served so greatly. She loved her family above all else and will be missed. We find great comfort in the reunion with Dad, family and friends, and her beloved Savior.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heartwood for their amazing care of Gloria for the past several years. Private family service. Memorials preferred.
