Gust Marco Butorac

Gust Marco Butorac age 87 of Crosby died on January 23, 2014 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. He was born on June 1, 1926 in Crosby to August and Rose (Butorac) Butorac. Gust was a WWII Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. He graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School class of 1944. He married Jacqueline Sorenson on December 29, 1954 in Crosby. He retired from the Soo Railroad in 1986. Gust was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby and a former member of Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Coon Rapids American Legion and the Coon Rapids VFW. He was also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart for action on Okinawa; the DAV and the National Association of retired and veteran Railroad employees.

Survivors include his wife Jacqueline; 1 son, John Butorac of Oak Grove; 1 daughter, Traci Butorac of Coon Rapids; 3 brothers, Tom (Elaine) Butorac of Deerwood, George Butorac of Meza, AZ, and Frank (Adele) Butorac of St. Joseph; 1 sister, Ann (Sye) Majerus of Merrifield; sisters-in-law, Evie Butorac and Zanta Butorac; and three grandchildren, Andrew, Connor and Corey Butorac.

Preceding him in death are his parents; 4 brothers, Tony, Milo, John and Phillip Butorac; sisters, Kay Butorac Smith and infant Mary; and sister-in-law, Jean Butorac.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, January, 29, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443. Burial will be at the Epiphany Cemetery in Coon Rapids on Wednesday at 3 pm. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
