Gustav Robert "Bob" Oberg

April 2, 1934 — August 3, 2012

Gustav Robert Oberg (Bob) died peacefully the morning of August 3rd, 2012. Family who will miss him deeply are Lisa & George Bennett, Stephanie Oberg &Russell Cole, Cpl. Mitchell & Frankie Bennett, and Annika and Charlotte Nabors. He will also be missed by long-time loving companion, Trudy Schuler, and her family. Bob was born on April 2nd, 1934, and grew up in Deerwood, MN, the son of Dorothy & Gust & older brother to Jim. He had a lifelong interest in the US military, and spent 4 years in the active duty and the National Guard, followed by many years in the Army Reserve. He was proud to have attained the rank of master sergeant. A voracious reader, Bob was always up to date with current events. He enjoyed being a life member of the Walter Scoot American Legion, Deerwood and was part of their color guard for many years. He was also a member of the 194th Tank Battalion Association, Brainerd, and the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of memorials, please make a donation to the Minnesota Military History Museum at Camp Ripley in Dad's name.
