Howard Emil Hunter age 98 of Crosby died on September 16, 2011 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. Howard was born to Emil and Louise (DeCent) Hunter on December 9, 1912 in Wolford Township. He was a WWII Army veteran and Headquarter Battery 2nd battalion 218 Regiment National Guard Unit, based in Crosby. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby and the Cuyuna Range Knights of Columbus serving as a past Grand Knight. He was a member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton, the Jenkins VFW Post # 3839; was a former street department employee for the City of Crosby; past Crosby City Council Person; Original Member of Crosby Planning and Zoning Commission and the Crosby Housing Authority Council Person. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and great, great great and great great great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, 1 son, William Howard Hunter; 5 sisters, Faye Fish, Eva Bowden, Zona Dehning, Vallie Smith and Lulu Sullivan; 4 brothers, Glen, Ray, Herman and Earl Hunter. Funeral services will be 11 am on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton. Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9 am until the time of services. A rosary will be lead by the Knights of Columbus at 10 am.
