Hubert "Hub" Sven Nelson

Hubert “Hub” Sven Nelson age 90 of Deerwood died on July 11, 2017 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was born on January 26, 1927 in Deerwood Township to Harry and Edris (Carlson) Nelson.  He was a WWII Army veteran.  Hub married Frances Bogel on February 23, 1952 in Deerwood.  He was the founder of Nelson Trucking in Deerwood and co-founder of HGR Sod Farm in Aitkin.  Hub was a longtime member of the Deerwood Baptist and The Journey North Church in Aitkin.

Hub is survived by his wife Frances; two sons, Scott (Renee) Nelson of Crosby and Tony (Karin) Nelson of Deerwood; three daughters, Robin Burrow, Becky (Dale) Johnson, and Ginnie (Brad) Hintermeister all of Deerwood; two sisters, Dolly Sack and Delphi Glader both of Denver, CO; nineteen grandchildren and forty-six great grandchildren.

Preceding Hub in death are his parents; one sister, Lauraine Lundquist; three brothers, Roy, Wayne, and Gilbert “Gus” Nelson; two grandchildren, Rebekah Nelson and Andy Nelson and a great grandchild, Lainey Johnson.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at The Journey North Church (formerly Westside Church) in Aitkin with full military honors by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post #557, Deerwood.  Burial will be at the Deerwood Scandia Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
