Iva Modine

Iva Cathryn "Ike" Modine age 86 died on August 18, 2011 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. She was born on June 2, 1925 in Tabor, SD to Charles and Nellie (Stevenson) Vellek. She married Dale William Modine on January 24, 1947 in Colome, SD. Ike was employed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Eagan as a claims examiner for 20 years. After retiring in 1991 they moved to Deerwood. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iron Hub and the Ladies Aid and it's past president, a life time member and past president of both the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Auxiliary and the Marin Corp League. Survivors include her husband Dale; 1 son William Modine of Chokio; 2 daughters Sandra (Jim) Mishler of Eagan and Janet Sanderson of Monticello; 1 sister Amo Bishop of Shawano, WI; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents and 1 brother John Vellek. Funeral services will be 11 am on Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iron Hub. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
