 
            James Vincenzo Rocca Sr. age 89 of Ironton died on March 17, 2011 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born in Ironton on October 13, 1921 to Vincenzo and Michelina (Talerico) Rocca. He graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School Class of 1940. Attended Junior College until he was drafted into the US Army during WWII. After the war he returned to work in the iron ore mines. Later he became a meat cutter and butcher working at Carlie's Market in Deerwood. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Cuyuna Range Knights of Columbus , and the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton. Jim is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy; grandson, Justin; sisters, Rose Rocca, Mary Fitch, Ritha Glass, Bernice Woods and Santina Rocca and one brother Frank Rocca. Survivors include his children; Micki (Jesse) Lovelace, Melrose, Jim (Kay) Rocca, Deerwood, Kathy Rocca, Apple Valley, Mary Jo (Joe) Alpert , Inver Grove Heights, Terri (Jay) Hofmann, Ironton, Ann (Rob) Myhran, Minneapolis, Ginner (Bruce) Wallat, Brooklyn Park, and Tom (Rhonda) of Statesville, NC; 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and sisters, Virginia Zarr, Deerwood, Angeline Cronk, St. Paul and Joann Bordwell, Deerwood; and one brother, John Rocca of Ironton. Funeral services will be 11 am on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call on Monday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 8 pm with a rosary at 7 pm.
