 
            James Warren Van Horn Sr. age 69 of Merrifield died on April 25, 2011 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born on August 8, 1941 in Brainerd to James Lester and Gladys (Bodle) Van Horn. James married Elsie Walton on November 27, 1965 in Pequot Lakes. He was a US Navy Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #500, Crosslake-Fifty Lakes. He is survived by his wife Elsie; 2 sons, James Van Horn Jr. of Merrifield and Tim (Katie) Van Horn of Spokane WA; 1 daughter, Tammy Van Horn of Farmington; 4 brothers, Dale (Patty) Van Horn of Crosby, Earl (Cincy) Van Horn of Crosby, Mike (Judy) Van Horn of Aitkin and Lester (Brenda) Van Horn of Crosby; 6 sisters, "Cis" Emma (Jim) Durham of Wenatchee, WA, Gail (Fred) McGuire of Lino Lakes, Faye LaMar of Merrifield, Kaye (Danny) Krein of Grasston, Esther (Steve) Reem of Palmer, Alaska, and Carolyn Engholm of Brainerd; and 5 grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, 3 brothers, Loren, Arthur and Jack Van Horn and 1 sister, Carol Ann Van Horn. Funeral services will be 1 pm on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Crosslake Lutheran Church in Crosslake. Burial will at the Mission Township Cemetery with full military rites given by the Crosslake American Legion Post. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 PM at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby and 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
