Janice Eileen Moritz, age 87 of Crosby died on January 5, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. She was born in Brainerd on June 15, 1936 to Olaf and Elda (Foote) Olander. She married Raymond Moritz on September 26, 1953 in Crosby. Janice attended the Crosby Ironton High School, together with her husband built the Parkview Drive-in in Crosslake in 1962 until they sold in 1968, managed the Dairy Bar in Crosby, owned and operated the North County Café and the Sundown Café in Crosby.
Janice is survived by her husband of 70 years, Raymond; two sons, Mike (Carol) Moritz of Crosby and Ryan Moritz of Peqout Lakes; two daughters, Cindy Fontaine (Hank Smith) of Motley and Robin (Ronnie) Cranfill of Crosby; 7 grandchildren, Shawn Fontaine, Carrie Thorpe, Carly Marenowski, Carson Moritz, Jessica Peterson, Lindsey Cranfill and Dakota Cranfill; and 8 great grandchildren.
Preceding Janice in death are her parents; brothers, Merle, Frank, Gary and Christ Olander; sisters, Phyllis LaBorde, Mary Mays, Jennifer Bock and infant Jeanette Olander.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Mission Township Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday at the Koop Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
