Joan W. Rono

Joan W. Rono age 83 of Perry Lake Township died on May 30, 2019 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on October 25, 1935 in Pueblo, Colorado to Relton and Gertrude (Kelsey) Cory. Joan married Charles Rono Sr. on May 8, 1954 in Smithland, Iowa.  Joan was a retired Home Health Care Aid with Crow Wing County Human Service.  She was a member of the Emily United Methodist Church; Chapter 122 Order of Easter Star, Aitkin; and the Myrin-James American Legion Auxiliary, Ironton.

Joan is survived by one daughter, Rita (Mike) Verdon of Dayton; two sons, Charles “Butch” Rono Jr. and Larry (Mary) Rono all of Crosby; one sister, Janet (Ronnie) Ronfeldt of Oto, IA; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Preceding Joan in death are her parents; her husband, Charles, Sr. in 2014; and two brothers, James and Jerry Cory.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Emily United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily.  Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
