Joann Theresa Bordwell

Joann Theresa Bordwell age 84 of Deerwood died on November 28, 2016.  She was born on January 20, 1932 in Deerwood Township to Vincenzo and Michelina (Telericco) Rocca.  Joann graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1950.  She owned and operated Eng and Bordwell Oil Company in Ironton. She was a former switchboard operator for the Crosby Telephone Company and a former employee of Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge.  She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby and it’s CCW, the Myrin-James American Legion Auxiliary in Ironton for 62 years.

Joann is survived by one son, Jeff (Joella) Bordwell of Monticello; two daughters, Jane (Terry) Brink of Baxter and Julie (Dave) Maus of Bemidji; one brother, John Rocca of Ironton and one sister, Angeline Cronk of Maplewood; seven grandchildren, Ben (Megan) Bordwell, Sarah (Geoff) Groh, Emily (Ethan) Branum, Malachy Brink, Charlie Maus, Sammy Maus and Rosie Maus; two great grandchildren, Piper Bordwell and Vale Bordwell.

Preceding Joann in death are her parents; six sisters, Mary Fitch, Ritha Rocca Glass, Santina Rocca, Bernice Woods, Virginia Zarr and Rose Rocca; two brothers, Frank and James Rocca.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.  Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.  Visitation will be on Thursday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 7 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm and also from 1:30 till the time of the service at the church on Friday.
