John "Bob" Dotzler

September 30, 1925 — July 18, 2014

John "Bob" Robert Dotzler age 88 of Emily died at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center on July 18, 2014. He was born on September 30, 1925 in Aitkin to John and Anna (Hoge) Dotzler. He graduated from the Aitkin High School in 1943 and then entered the US Army serving in the Philippines and Japan during WWII. He married Elsie (Richards) Dotzler and later divorced. They had five children; Robert (Diane) Dotzler of Cedar, Barbara (Jerry) Gray of Soldotna, AK, Steven (Darlene) Dotzler of Anchorage, AK, Jeff Dotzler (Marie Rosa) of Emily and Marilyn (Pat) Meyer of Brainerd.

Bob is survived by his children; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; In-laws, Alice Dotzler of Aitkin, Ed Kraemer of Aitkin and Sylvester Kraemer of Turtle Lake, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are is parents; 2 brothers, Richard and Donald Dotzler; 3 sisters, Mildred Kraemer, Maudell Hasskamp and Lorraine Kraemer; 1 granddaughter, Kelly Horner and 1 great granddaughter, Ali Bell.

Bob previously worked for Hanna Mining, Vomela Rice Plant and operated heavy equipment in the area. Currently he was attending Treasured Times Adult Daycare in Crosby. He was a member of the Aitkin Legion Post and a lifetime member of the Aitkin VFW.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Wesleyan Church in Emily. Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby and on Thursday 1 hour prior to the services at the church.
