Joseph "Ted" Christensen

March 15, 1929 — March 25, 2015

Joseph "Ted" Christensen age 86 went home to be with His Lord and Savior on March 25, 2015. He was born on March 15, 1929 in Brainerd, MN to Abel and Clara Jane (Scherenberg) Christensen. Ted was the loving and caring husband for 67 years to Marlys (Thoms) Christensen, and together they moved their family to the local area from Brainerd-Crosby Minnesota where Ted worked for the Hanna mining Company In Crosby-Ironton, MN and Iron Mountain, MI as a heavy equipment mechanic for a combined total of thirty years before retiring.

Ted was best known as the man who did things right the first time. He was a master of many trades and an excellent builder and carpenter who took great pride in the work of his hands. He was always happy to help family, friends and even strangers anyway he could. He loved his family and he and Marlys enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ted and Marlys moved back home to Minnesota in December of 2013. Ted was a devoted follower of Christ and found joy in knowing Jesus and is now at peace in Heaven as his reward.

In addition to his wife Marlys, Ted leaves his children Greg (Denise) Christensen of Iron Mountain, Tim (Nancy) Christensen of Harlingen, TX, Joy Christensen of Lebanon, SD, Daniel Christensen of Winthrop, MN and Jane Weber of Homestead, WI, his granchildren Thad (Connie) Christensen, Angi Christensen, Brandon (Mikki) Hall, Lia Hall, Rebbeca (Mark) Mathews, JoAnn Fletcher, Carrie (Carlos) Gutierrez, Nathan (Tracy) Kehr, Matt (Cortney) Kehr, Jason (Del) Lehto, and Jennifer (Bret) Moore, and Ian Weber and Cody Weber and 22 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers, Don (Ione) Christensen of Bay Lake, MN, Jim (Norma) Christensen of Melstone, MT, his half-sister Elizabeth and half-brother Richard, step-sister Donna, his Brother in Law Larry (Nancy) Thoms of Deerwood, MN, his Sisters in law, JoAnn Lindroth of Brainerd, MN and Sharron (Web) Norton of Gresham, OR and many nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Sarah whom his father married after the death of Clara Jane, his step-brothers, Bob Norton and King Norton; brother-in-law, Art Lindroth, his niece Sheryl and grandson Jonathan and Son-in-law, Bob Weber.

The family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop, MN for the care given to their husband and father during his stay and also to the nurses and doctors who cared for him both in Iron Mountain and in MN during the last few years.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
