Josephine "Jo" Blanich

Josephine “Jo” Blanich, age 96 of Crosby, passed away on August 25, 2024 at the Cuyuna

Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born on October 5, 1927 in Helena, MT to Joseph and Katherine (O’Brien) Granby.

Jo was a retired Administrative Accounting Clerk for Zontelli Brothers and Aitkin Iron Works.

Being an avid birder, Jo traveled the United States, Canada and Costa Rica.  She had over 1000 bird species on her life list.  Jo was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood and a founding member of the Bee-Nay-She Bird Club.

Preceding Jo in death are her parents; her husband, Steve; 3 sisters, Ruth Schmidt, Margie Branch and Dorothy Lindgren; and 3 brothers, Donald Graton, Russell Granby and Kenneth Granby.

Jo is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood.  A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.  In lieu of flowers memorial project will be  funded through the MN Ornithologists Union-Terry Savaloja Memorial Fund.
