Kelly Gene Avelsgard, age 62 of Deerwood passed away on May 22, 2022 at the St. Cloud Hospital, as of a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born in Crosby on April 1, 1960 to Frank and Nellie (Adams) Avelsgard. He was a US Army veteran, serving from 1978 to 1989 as trainer. He attended the University of Louisville from 1986-1989. He became licensed in real estate in 1991 and led his own brokerages for 10 years. He was a staff member with ProSource from 2000-2011, serving as the manager of pre-licensing material. Kelly founded and was the CEO of tailored educational services beginning in 2011. Kelly had a passion to train, while teaching and developing his own material to make learning fun. Kelly also enjoyed fishing, writing, riding his motorcycle, hanging with his dog Tuff, and spending time with family.
Kelly is survived by his significant other, Tracey Wilson of Brainerd; his son, Gideon (Brandi) Avelsgard of Crosby; his mother, Nellie Avelsgard of Deerwood; one grandchild, Rayne Anseeuw; and three siblings. Kelly is preceded in death by his father.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Myrin-James American Legion Post in Ironton on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Military honors will be presented at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
