Kenneth Lowell Murphy age 60 of Brainerd died on September 11, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 13, 1952 in Minneapolis to Lowell and Lorraine (Back) Murphy. He married Christine O'Brien on March 9, 1991 in Platte Lake. He was a US Army veteran. Ken was a Marine Mechanic with Northern Sports in Brainerd. He was a member of Light of the Cross Lutheran Church in Garrison.
Survivors include his wife Christine; 2 sons, Brandon Murphy of Cambridge and Daniel (Amy) Murphy of Cambridge; 2 daughters, Kelly Murphy of St. Cloud and Sara Murphy of Brainerd; his mother, Lorraine Shelton of Fridley; 3 brothers, Phillip Murphy of Wahkon, Keith Murphy of Coon Rapids, Gregory (Rochelle Dooley) Murphy of Mounds View; and 5 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his father and 1 brother, Dwayne Murphy.
Funeral services will be 12 noon on Saturday at the Light of the Cross Lutheran Church in Garrison with military honors given by the Garrison VFW. Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily. Friends may call on Friday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 5 to 8 pm and on Saturday 1 hour prior to the services at the church.
