Larry Edward Carstens

Larry Edward Carstens age 78 of Outing died on April 30, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis surrounded by family. He was born on December 1, 1937 in Malheur County, Oregon to Edward and Mildred (Henderson) Carstens. Larry married Barbara Jean Mechelke on February 15, 1968 in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Larry graduated from the Payette High School in Payette, Idaho. He attended Boise Community College in Boise, Idaho and Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. Larry was a hard worker and supported his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed going on camping and hunting trips with family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and reading. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Outing.

Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barb; one son, Scott Carstens of Outing; two daughters, Stacey (Shaun) McKinney of Outing and Sara (Chris) Smith of Outing; one sister, Judi (Bill) Miller of Prescott, AZ; nine grandchildren, Taylor Carstens, Alexis Greene, Dakota Carstens, Zachary Greene, Madison Greene, Abbigail Smith, McKinna McKinney, Brayden McKinney and Bentley McKinney.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Carstens.

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Outing. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
