Laverne Emma Holmvig

LaVerne Emma Holmvig age 85 of Deerwood died at her home on May 11, 2015. She was born on September 25, 1929 in Swanville to Gustav and Anna (Lapp) Beseman. She graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1947. She married Stanley Holmvig on June 30th, 1956 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cedarbrook.

LaVerne retired from Samco in 1987 with 20 years of service. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood and the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Auxiliary in Deerwood. LeVerne enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, camping and taking care of the backyard birds, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include 3 sons, Randy (Lori) Holmvig of Aitkin, Steve (Marilyn) Holmvig of Pillager and Scott (Lynn) Holmvig of Sauk Rapids; 1 daughter, Sherri (Ed) Godfrey of Deerwood; 2 brothers, Dan (Dee) Beseman of Ironton and Merlin (Marion) Beseman of Anoka; 1 sister, Peggy Beseman of Crosby; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Stanley and 2 sisters, Joyce Wilford and Jackie Gordon.

Funeral services will be 2 pm on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Deerwood Scandia Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 8 pm and on Friday 1 hour prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Salem Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
