Lawrence H. “Scotty” McKenzie, age 90 of Crosby, passed away on May 21, 2025, at his home. He was born in Onamia on March 21, 1935, to William and Audrey (Duncan) McKenzie.
Scotty was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1955 to 1958 with 15 months in Uijeongbu, Korea. He married the love of his life, Patty Raynor, on November 18, 1972, in Anoka.
Scotty was a former North St. Paul Police officer. He retired from his career as an independent insurance agent and agriculture confinement building and ventilation equipment salesman. He was a Perry Lake Township board member and was an elder at Remnant Ministry Center in Brainerd.
Scotty had a long personal relationship with the Lord that gave him great peace and strength. He was a dearly loved husband, father, and friend to many. He loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other children who flocked to him. He genuinely enjoyed people of all ages.
Scotty is survived by his wife of 52 ½ years, Patty; his three children,
Jacqueline (Dean) Hanson of Minneapolis, Lawrence “Skip” McKenzie Jr. of Minneapolis, and Gail (Chad) Weinhold of Brooklyn Park; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding Scotty in death are his parents and one sister, Carol Ann Osborn.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Remnant Ministry Center in Brainerd. Visitation will be on Friday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the Remnant Ministry Center. A private family burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery in Irondale Township with full military honors presented by the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443.
