Leslie Robert Nelson

April 9, 1951 — December 18, 2018

Leslie Robert Nelson age 67 of Bay Lake formerly of Roseville died at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd on December 18, 2018 after a multi-year fight with Multiple Sclerosis.  He was born in Sheldon, IA on April 9, 1951 to William and Eunice (Rees) Nelson.  Les grew up in Roseville. He graduated from the Roseville High School in 1969.

Les had several jobs in the retail trade and attended several colleges in the twin city area but finally entered Northwestern Electronics Institute in Minneapolis. Graduating in 1979 as an electronic technician.  Later that year he married Vicki Strachota.  Les worked at several locations repairing electronic equipment and finally became an instructor at Northwestern Electronics from 1982 until 1986. In 1986 he established his own electronics firm in Edina.  Les then moved to Alaska where he was employed by Motorola and became a field technician for the U.S. Coast Guard in Prince William Sound.  Les worked for various electronic firms in Alaska until 2007, when he was struck down with MS and was forced to sell his property and move back to Minnesota.

Les is survived by his parents, Curt and Eunice Nelson of Deerwood; a brother, Vern of Lino Lakes, MN and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a younger brother, Scott in 2010.

Funeral Services will be 2:00. p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Saturday.
