Lester Arthur “Grumpy” Rono Sr., age 80 of Crosby passed away on June 6, 2024 at his home. He was born on August 29, 1943 in Perry Lake Township to Oscar and Hilda (Randall) Rono Sr.
Lester was a former employee of Scorpion, Land O’Lakes Turkey Processing Plant and MacMillian Bloedel. He was also an area beef farmer. Lester enjoyed watching football.
Lester is survived by his daughter, Kaye (Robert) Boyd of Baxter; daughter-in-law, Heidi Lundgren of Crosby; his companion, Joan Martin of Brainerd; one brother, Harold Rono of Crosby and one sister Linda Saltzman on Ponca, NB; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding Lester in death are his parents; one son, Lester Rono Jr.; six brothers, Oscar Jr. “Babe”, David, Larry, Roger, Albert, and Tony Rono; three sisters, Alice Simmonds, Caroline Warren and Nancy Perez.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Myrin-James American Legion in Ironton from 3:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m. with a sharing of memories at 4:00 p.m. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
